Writers GuidelinesAbout BearSystems.Com
BearSystems.Com was first introduced to the Internet in October 1995. It started out as an Internet "portal" for the Mid-Hudson Valley of NY state, and is still mainly that, but has expanded to include the whole Hudson Valley. From NYC to Albany. In the beginning, I knew my site had to have content, more then just listings of other Internet sites. The first thing I did was visit a local legend of advice in nutrition expert, Dr Jack Soltanoff. His articles are both informative and humorous. The past 5 years, I have experienced growth in the number of listings and request for information about the Hudson Valley, primarily form people from NYC looking for a safe and quit place to live within a couple of hours from NYC. With the growth, comes requests of all kinds, directions, maps, living conditions, jobs, history, etc., within the Hudson Valley. If you visit my site map, you will notice that I have web pages on a wide variety of subjects, depending on my interest that night, from The American Revolution, to "Peg Leg Bates", to Zip Codes and of course the 574 towns in the Hudson Valley. In 2003, a guy at work told me about a group of people called :"Jackson Whites", whom lived in the Ramapo mountains of NJ & NY, have since before the American Revolution. After a night of searching, I wrote / copied / pointing to, pages about them. In Kingston NY, a portion of Route 209 was renamed to Clayton 'Peg Legs' Bates Memorial Highway . I knew little of him, a black tap dancer who had a local resort for blacks years ago. I am interested in stories like this one. Then I received a request about the Ontario & Western Railway Historical Society, The view from High View Tunnel: The summer of '54 on an O&W track gang by Ron Britzke, another good example of a story I'm looking to include on this site. In May of 2004, I received a email from Dan W. Deluca, he was looking for any information on the "Old Leather Man", Photos, Caves, Scrapbooks. Anything. He gave me the rights to publish his request with a short story if I added his request for information. This is an example of another good story for this site. You can see where this going... more and more people are either submitting stories related to the Hudson Valley of looking to read these kind of stories. About My AudienceMany requests are for information about the Hudson Valley, primarily people from NYC looking for a safe and quit place to live within a couple of hours from NYC.
