Fi Parents of the Hudson Valley
Semper Fi Parents of the Hudson Valley
owes its origin to the desire of a handful of local parents to gather, share
information and support each other after their Marine recruit left home for
boot camp. Since then our membership has grown across the Hudson Valley,
including (parents of) those serving in the Army, Navy and Air Force and covers
all aspects of the military service.

WHO today knows much about
Washington Irving beyond “Rip Van Winkle” and “The Legend of
Sleepy Hollow?” Or Samuel Morse, besides that dot-dash thing? Or anything
at all about Andrew Jackson Downing, Calvert Vaux, Thomas Cole and Frederic
Church, who opened our eyes to the beauty of the American wilderness and
pioneered the preservation movement? Here in the Hudson Valley, the cradle of
our national culture with its storied past, ghosts are everyday neighbors, yet
they swirl about unseen, unmarked, unemployed and homeless.
Are there any Catskill Heroes?
