Bloomville, NY 13739
Local GovernmentHistoric PlacesPoints of InterestNearby: Bovina Center, Delhi, Hobart, Kortright My name is Margaret Trambaugh and in 1975 my husband and I were in Bloomville, NY to see if we could find where I was born. I was born on Gregory Hill, Feb. 28 1937. We found the hill and drove up the hill (under his protest, said it was a mountain) and found weathered house and barn. There was an old weathered house and barn. There was also a sign that said there was to be a resort built there. Wonder if it happened. The person that I am searching for is deceased but would like to find a relative. The lady saved my life. When I was born we lived on Gregory Hill in Bloomville, NY and there had been a snow storm when Mom went into labor with me. The telephone operator lived at the foot of the hill (also a good friend) and finally got a Dr. to come help Mom. She told him he'd either come or she'd have the police bring him. I was corded and almost didn't make it, not to exclude the danger Mom was in. The house we lived in was WAY up the hill and Dad had come down with the horse and sled and took the Dr. up the hill. As it turns out I was named after this woman's daughter, Margaret Ann. My Dad was Thomas Herschel Greenwell and Mom Maude Louisa. I have one sister left, Martha and the other was Mary Geneieve "Bedie". I Have contacted my sister for memories, as she is 13 yrs. older than me and since we moved back to Indiana when I was 2 or 3 I have no memories of being there. We still have family in NY. The name is Taylor. My Great grandfather Trumbill G. Taylor, was in the Civil War and in the walk across Georgia. My grandparents were Edward and Orissa Taylor. Sorry to go on so but am curious. Would appreciate any info Could you give me any info as to this or any town history? My
parents were Maude Louisa and Thomas Herschel Greenwell. My Grandparents (I
think) lived at Grand Gorge. They were Orissa and Edward Taylor and I have a
picture of a large barn labeled Pinder Farm. It was at one time (probably 60's)
an antique shop. With appreciation Margaret. Restaurants
