"Absence of An Anwer"In the city I grabbed dinner - solo I was. How odd I felt with no one to converse; even the waiters were mum. So I sprung, leaving my two buck tip - out the door to the city noise. I hesitated by the car and thought of driving. Heading to nowhere certain I would drive long into the night until the shadows of darkness changed from ghost to dew constructed by the magic of the moon and sun and still, I would have no answer. I turned the key back in the lock and took off on foot. I walked across the bridge, the current swift beneath me enough to force a run to paved safety just the other side. I walked until lights with illuminating smiles appeared in homes not my own and realizing, perhaps what I was searching for was not to be found in the city tonight. mms 7/22/03 "Big Night In A Small Town"The spring sun came out today without a tease - its warmth and shine were for real. It brought with it the flocks and herds from hilltop and forest to where winter had worn away. I saw them there fowl and mammal grazing, sucking in the God given heaven sent manna, acting like kids out on a big night in a small town raising their beaks and nostrils to the heavens saying their thanks to God above. mms 3/11/03
