"Whenever the Flag Catches Your Eye"
Wherever in America you happen to be
Coming or going on land, or at sea,
Whenever the flag catches your eye
Brilliantly framed against the sky,
Stop, and watch it wave for a while.
Our beautiful banner will make you smile.
Whatever race you happen to be,
Whichever religion, know you are free
To choose in this country of ours
How to spend your 40 hours.
Whenever the flag catches your eye
Be proud, as you walk on by.
However critical you happen to be
To express your opinion openly
Is guaranteed. Our rights keep us strong,
They help make decisions right from wrong.
Whenever the flag catches your eye
Think of the freedoms upon which we rely.
Forever the flag, an emblem will be
A standard for the world to see.
Stars and stripes that represent
The history of our government.
Whenever the flag catches your eye
Vow to keep it flying high.
Remember those, most of all
As you watch the colors rise and fall,
Who sacrificed and gave their best
To keep America safe and blessed.
Whenever the flag catches your eye
Rejoice, and know the reasons why.
