Kirkside Park is a fourteen acre treasure located just back from the majestic Gould Church that graces Roxbury’s Main Street Historic District. Formerly the Estate of Helen Gould Shepard, the park is being restored to its former splendor and is rich in natural beauty and history. Rustic bridges, winding paths that line the Delaware, hand laid stone retaining walls, and lovely perennial gardens make Kirkside Park an ideal place to be. All summer long, the Park is enlivened by cultural and humanities programs for the entire family and Home to the Roxbury Nine.

The Roxbury Nine is a vintage base ball club that dress and play the game as it was played in the 19th century. Outfitted in baggy flannels of the 1890s, the Nine play clubs from across the northeast as they snare line drives with the bare hands and take the field with “Old fashioned intensity”. Spectators can claim their seats in the sun drenched bleachers for an afternoon of unforgettable Vintage base Ball

Railroad tycoon Jay Gould also lived in Roxbury and has a memorial church and the home of his daughter are in Roxbury.
