Schoharie County. Its quiet, natural beauty is waiting to welcome you,

Located in the heart of
Leatherstocking country, Schoharie is made up of 16 Townships - each
with a postcard perfect beauty.
Schoharie County is known for its variety of fresh farm
produce stands. Other retail services are located throughout the area,
but are concentrated in Cobleskill, Middleburgh and Schoharie. Three
major and numerous smaller grocery stores are within easy access of all
Schoharie communities. Numerous antique and gift stores contribute to
Schoharie’s shopping opportunities.

The primary industry of Schoharie County is agriculture.
Farms are
situated all over the county. At one time, there was a small-intensity
factory in Cobleskill called Guilford Mills. At Guilford, textiles were
made before its surprise closing in 2001. Over 700 residents lost their
job, although two people were hired to mow the lawn in 2005.
There is a small but growing tourist industry regarding
the county. Visitors come to visit Howe Caverns, Vroman's Nose, the Old Blenheim Bridge,
and the Old Stone Fort.
There has
been a local movement of late to have residents shop locally.
