Local GovernmentHistoric PlacesPoints of InterestSpring Glen has a restaurant, the County Line, formerly a bungalow colony. The hamlet, once boasted 60 bungalow colonies and a children's camp. Many former residents from the town have a site on AOL. Also, the hamlet had several businesses, particularly during the summer. A kosher butcher, 2 grocery stores, a fruit/fish store, 3 candy stores, a pizza restaurant/bar and a pinball arcade all existed in Spring Glen. There are historic spots, most of which are now private property. However there still is a wall built out of stones, on Lewis Road, said to have been built by the local Lenapee Indians. It lies on the road to the Spring Glen campgrounds, another spot which may still exist for campers. The road was formerly known as the Marcus Road. There is also a synagogue in the hamlet, the Spring Glen Hebrew Congregation, still operational and recently placed on the National Register of Historic Places. See the Delaware-Hudson Barge canals, and the rail road bed which is now used as a hiking trail. Both of these can be seen both inside and outside of the campground. The hamlet also boasts the Homowack Hotel, a well known hotel of the Borscht Belt era. It is still open today. For information on this hotel contact the Ellenville Lumber Co. Homowack is a former name of Spring Glen. The hotel and 50% of the hamlet falls into Sullivan Co. Spring Glen is filled with a rich and important history, holding many cherished memories for its residents and former residents.
