Historic Places
The Arts and Crafts Movement came to Woodstock around
1902, and, afterwards, Woodstock was always considered an active artist
colony in the 19th and early 20th century, including playing host to
numerous Hudson River School painters. Its reputation as an arts center
contributed to the original Woodstock Festival's organizers planning
their concert around the town.

It was held at Max Yasgur's 600-acre dairy farm near the hamlet of
White Lake in the town of Bethel, New York, from August 15 to August
18, 1969. Bethel,
in Sullivan County, is 43 miles southwest
of the town of Woodstock.
Woodstock '79 was a rock concert that took place at Madison Square
Garden, New York City
Woodstock '89 or "The Forgotten Woodstock" was a rock concert that took
place in August 1989 on the site of the original Woodstock concert of
1969 as a spontaneous celebration of the event's 20th anniversary.
Woodstock '94 was a music festival organized in order to commemorate
the 25th anniversary of the original Woodstock Festival of 1969. The
event took place on a large field in Saugerties, New
York
Woodstock 99, performed July 23–25, 1999, in Rome, New York
